Senior Web Developer
Krate is seeking a senior web developer with 3-5 years of studio / agency experience. We’re looking for someone with a strong technical background rooted in open source projects. The candidate should be able to assess project technical requirements from a high level view and love to roll up the sleeves to write clean, efficient code. We like folks who are engaged in the web/dev community and have an dual interest in backend and frontend development. (Someone who’s got Smashing Magazine, A List Apart, and Stack Overflow in their bookmark list.)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Full Stack Web Application Development – LAMP
- Technical Project Lead
- Business Analysis and Requirements Definition
What You’ll Need:
- 3-5 years of experience min. developing for the web
- Advanced knowledge of PHP and MySQL
- Solid understanding of HTML, CSS and Javascript/jQuery
- System admin and server deployments
- Leadership and development of junior devs
- Respect of industry-accepted standards, specifications and best practices
- Research and champion emerging technologies
Desired:
- Experience with Apache and VirtualHosting
- Git (or another version control system)
- Know your way around a Linux server
- Experience developing for WordPress and open source CMS’s
Pluses:
- Understands caching layers (such as Varnish)
- Experience with preprocessing languages (Sass, Less, etc.)
- Experience with RESTful APIs
- Experience developing for responsive interfaces and mobile
- Experience with HTML email platforms (Mailchimp, etc)
- iPhone, iPad and Android app development

Front-End Developer
Krate has an opening for a talented front-end web developer with 1-2+ years of agency/freelance experience. We’re looking for someone with strong front-end dev skills, a love of good design, and some backend coding chops to boot. (Someone who’s got Smashing Magazine, A List Apart, and Stack Overflow at the top of their bookmark list.)
What you’ll need:
- 1-2+ years of hands-on, agency/freelance experience
- Extensive knowledge of HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL
- Solid understanding of JavaScript/jQuery
- Experience developing for mobile devices
- A demonstrated ability to develop responsive interfaces
- Ability to advise on development best practices and web standards
- Understanding of Git (or another version control system)
- Experience developing for WordPress and open source CMS’s
- Strong attention to detail
Pluses:
- Experience with preprocessing languages (Sass, Less, etc.)
- Understanding of the command line
- A geek about optimizing your workflow
- Experience with a build process
- An understanding of Ajax methodology
- Experience with HTML email platforms (Mailchimp, etc)
